Weight Loss Products – Results Not Typical
When it comes to so many things today, we see all kinds of claims for all kinds of products. Weight loss products are no different, but with a twist that other products may not have.
It is claimed by sellers, and expected by consumers, that these products will effectively accomplish the desired weight loss goals of the individual.
Ads and claims are often supported by testimonials by, stories about, and photos of people who have successfully lost weight with the particular weight loss product.
These items are often accompanied with a small disclaimer somewhere on the ad material, “Results not typical.” How are you to interpret this?
Well, it can just add to the confusion about weight loss products. Whether or not one of these products “works” or not depends on a broad range of factors.
I used to sell a weight loss product that is one of the best and most effective available. We parted ways not because their product became less effective, but because they decided to go with other marketing methods. I was comfortable with that product. It fit my personal attitude of “sell something that you would recommend to friends or family, or use yourself, even if you were not being paid”.
It was the weight loss product I would have designed if they had not gotten there first.
However, even they had the disclaimer, “Results not typical”.
Some people bought the products and did not use them. Some did not use them as directed. Some did not stay on the program long enough for it to be effective. Some could not afford the monthly cost.
As you can see, there can be a lot of possible reasons for a perfectly good weight loss program to have varying results.
Alluded to above is a specific reason why many weight loss programs do not seem to work, or produce varying results.
Like many things, losing weight takes effort… sometimes a lot more effort than the original motivation will carry them through.
Don’t believe me?
Drive around town on a bright Spring day and look into open garages. In home after home, you will see all kinds of expensive exercise equipment surrounded by boxes, pushed into a corner, covered with stuff, or out with the garage sale goods.
A few years ago, my wife and I took a job which caused us to be on the road for weeks at a time. I had a Bowflex which I loved and used religiously. While we were gone, our grown daughters lived in and took care of the house for us. I still remember the first time we came back home after being gone for nearly three weeks. There was my beloved Bowflex… with all kinds of girlie clothes drying on it!
It’s still a family joke.
A related factor is just plain ignorance. When I got the Bowflex, one of my daughters was saying she wanted to lose weight. I said she could use the Bowflex and “create some lean muscle tissue”. Immediately, she shot back that she wanted to lose weight NOT get muscles!
However, creating lean muscle mass through exercise is a great way to burn fat, lose weight, and get thinner! She did not know how it all works and reacted to words she thought she understood.
Another fact of life is that not all weight loss products are created equal. Many are really just helpers.
For example, products such as the currently popular Raspberry Ketones, Garcinia Cambogia, or Green Coffee Bean Extract, in most cases can only “help” a good weight loss program along. They are not the actual program.
They help curb appetite, block fat storage, or boost the metabolism a little bit. In most cases, by themselves they will only help you lose a few pounds… in the best case. They work best when combined with exercise and proper nutrition… which should be the basis for any successful and permanent weight loss program.
One last issue… genetics.
We have been told since we were children that each of us is unique, and that applies to health, fitness, and weight loss as well.
When you realize that most people do not have the exact genetics, do the exact same workout, eat the exact same food, have the exact same exercise schedule, I think you can understand that two people using the exact same weight loss products may not experience the exact same results.
However, a lifestyle which includes regular exercise, proper nutrition, and maybe even a good weight loss product, will probably result in healthy, permanent weight loss, even if YOUR results are not typical.
