Which diet should you follow to avoid cancer?

Our lifestyle affects our health. Living and eating habits also play a role in the development of many types of cancer. Which types of cancer can diet affect and which cannot? What is the best diet to keep the risk of cancer low?

Eating is pleasure, culture, tradition – and a simple necessity. Is it also a cause for concern? Hardly anyone in India has to fear hunger. But especially in times of constant availability of food and various “fashions” it seems to be more and more complicated to eat properly. What is healthy? And what can harm the body? Does everything have to be organic? Are there enough nutrients in food or do you need vitamin tablets to protect yourself against cancer?

Details: Individual tumor types, special risk factors

In their fact sheets, the experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) put together what reliable connections exist. Accordingly, the following is considered to be secured:

  • The WHO has linked obesity with the development of several types of tumors, including colon cancer, liver cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, gallbladder cancer, uterine cancer and kidney cancer.
  • According to the WHO, the risk of cancer of the oral cavity, throat and larynx increases with alcohol consumption. The likelihood of developing cancer of the esophagus, liver or breast cancer also increases with increasing alcohol consumption.
  • Exercise and sport protect against breast cancer and colon cancer.

Cancer often occurs due to an unbalanced diet and metastases, in which there is too much processed meat and sugar, and not enough cereals, fruits, vegetables and dairy products. If you don’t know what are metastases then click the link. One of the most dangerous foods that provoke several types of cancer at once drinks high in sugar. Women who do not limit themselves to sweet soda and packaged juices are more likely to suffer from malignant tumors of the uterus, breast and kidneys (the latter also applies to men).

Manage your Blood Sugar Level

An international team of scientists came to similar conclusions, pointing out the link between excessive sugar consumption and cancer of the rectum, breast and bladder. At the same time, Belgian scientists demonstrated that sugar contributes to the rapid growth of malignant neoplasms.

Cancer cells multiply due to very rapid glycolysis – the breakdown of glucose without the participation of oxygen. In tumor cells, this process can be two hundred times faster than in healthy ones. A byproduct of high-speed glycolysis, fructose 1,6-bisphosphate, activates special proteins produced by the RAS genes. These, in turn, further accelerate the growth of the malignant tumor. It turns out to be a vicious “sugar” circle.

Therefore, several scientific studies at once recommend excluding sugary drinks from the diet, and replacing sugar with fruits and honey.

The risk of almost all types of cancer can be reduced by eating only natural products grown without synthetic pesticides and artificial mineral fertilizers. But a diet rich in whole grains will protect against liver cancer. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids can protect against cancerous tumors, as well as stop their growth and spread. First of all, we are talking about seafood, linseed oil, walnuts and black caviar.

The fact is that when omega-3 fatty acids are metabolized in the body, the edocannabinoid epoxides EDP-EA are formed, whose molecules, as it turned out, destroy cancer cells. Also, these substances slow down the formation of new blood vessels associated with malignant tissues and inhibit the movement of cancer cells. This means that the effectiveness of chemotherapy will increase if you put patients on a diet high in omega-3 fatty acids.

Vegetables good for health

Some cancer drugs work better if people with cancer eat a low-carb diet (the keto diet), where most of the calories and nutrients are derived from fats and proteins. There is evidence that such a diet is good for muscles and brain, and lowers blood sugar levels.

Much research has been done on this in the past few decades. With all the proven pollutants on the one hand and the various possible protective and vital substances on the other hand, scientists today come to the conclusion: A varied diet rich in plant-based foods is best suited to lower the risk of cancer. We now also know that it is not just what you eat that counts: the energy balance and body weight also play a major role. Therefore, a healthy diet that protects against cancer cannot be separated from physical activity.

Secondary plant substances are ingredients that give cancer fighting Vegetables, for example, their characteristic colors and aromas or protect them from diseases. But are these substances also useful for humans? Many of these plant substances have been shown to have health-promoting effects.

The best studied phytochemicals are

  • Carotenoids, coloring agents that are also considered a precursor to vitamin A.
  • Flavonoids, also dyes
  • Polyphenols such as resveratrol from grapes or epigallocatechin from green tea
  • Sulphides and related sulfur compounds such as sulforaphane from broccoli
  • Glucosinulates or mustard oil glycosides, for example from types of cabbage or radish.
